Roy Lomas Carpets & Hardwoods Introduce
For homeowners and businesses across Montgomery County and the broader Pennsylvania area, particularly around Harleysville, the name Roy Lomas Carpets & Hardwoods is synonymous with flooring solutions. Although commonly categorized as a flooring store, their scope of work, which includes expert installation and coordination of large-scale residential and commercial projects, positions them effectively as a specialized flooring and general contractor. With over 50 years of experience serving communities in Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties, they have established themselves as a one-stop-shop for all floor covering needs, from selection to final installation.
The company prides itself on being a major flooring provider, often described as a place where local builders source their materials. This 'buy where the builders buy' motto speaks to their substantial purchasing power and the sheer volume of high-quality products they keep in stock. Their expansive facility, comprising a 5,000 square foot Designer Showroom, a 5,000 square foot remnant room, and a 25,000 square foot warehouse, ensures customers have an unparalleled selection of carpets, hardwoods, laminates, and luxury vinyl floors. This massive inventory helps ensure that products are often available for quick turnaround and efficient project scheduling.
As a seasoned flooring contractor, Roy Lomas Carpets & Hardwoods handles the entire flooring project lifecycle. This includes guiding the customer through material selection, coordinating professional measurements, managing the logistics of delivery, and ensuring a professional installation. They work with major, trusted brands to offer a diverse range of styles and materials, catering to every aesthetic preference and budgetary requirement. Their services extend to both new construction flooring and renovating existing residential and commercial spaces, underscoring their capabilities beyond simple retail sales.
While the business has a long-standing positive reputation, particularly for great prices and product range, prospective customers should be aware that, like any major contractor, experiences can vary. Some customer feedback has pointed to occasional issues related to the quality of material supplied (specifically wood grade) compared to samples and inconsistencies with installation workmanship, particularly concerning detail-oriented work like grouting and trim installation. The company does maintain a full-time service department to address post-installation issues, offering a formal commitment to resolution, which is a significant resource uncommon in smaller operations.

Roy Lomas Carpets & Hardwoods Reviews
Used them through Sal Lapio builders. Paid extra for hardwood floor. Upgraded the carpet and bought extra padding. They installed poor quality wood with holes all over. Living room looks soo ugly with holes all over. They say its normal. Take a look at the photos, this is the quality they sell.Edit for your response.Don’t give me your cookie cutter response. Did you even look at the pictures I posted? They are not knot holes. They are worm holes which are supposed to be filled and finished so you don’t have actual holes in your floor. The grade of wood you provided was way inferior to the model you showed us at the floor and in the model home. How come the model home doesn’t have any holes like these? Bad for you your future customers can actually see the quality of product you deliver. All you have to do is deliver what you promise. No one is asking for more. Don’t take extra money and cheat your customers with poor quality materials.
June 27 · Kathir MohanI want to clarify that this review is long overdue. I had forgotten to write it until recently when additional problems from my Roy Lomas installation surfaced – an imperfect tile missed during the install has begun to crack, and it brought up all the memories of how bad the installation experience was. We were remodeling our kitchen and bathroom and purchased tiles, grout, shoe molding and base cove along with the professional installation to replace vinyl flooring.Pre-installation everything was great just like past experiences. The two workers completed the job in under 4 hours, which seemed fast – especially since the one worker said he was new and kept asking the other installer how to do things. This included putting down underlayment, glue, setting the tiles, grouting, installing vinyl cove base, caulking and cleanup. The shoe molding didn’t quite match our baseboard stain from what the estimator had put down but the workers said that happens sometimes and someone could just come out again with a closer match and install it.We were told to give 24 hours for the grout to cure but we kept the kitchen and bathroom blocked off for 48 hours just to be safe. Once the two days were up we went into the bathroom and kitchen and saw all the issues with the installation. The grout was cracking or had gaps that hadn’t been properly filled in many areas. (SEE PICS) There was also an entire line of tiles in the bathroom where the first tile had been set slightly offset from the others which then caused each tile after it to get further and further misaligned (SEE PICS). The two room pictures that have blue tape are marking any area where the grout was cracked, had holes or tiles were misaligned! (SEE PICS) 25 areas needed repairing!I contacted customer service at Roy Lomas and told them how unhappy I was with the job that was done. They said they would fix it but informed me that they only do installations during regular business hours of 8-5 during the week. They would send someone out to fix the issues and during the same visit have the person install the correct color shoe molding. I had already taken an entire vacation day for the install, so my wife had to take a ½ day off for the second visit. The installer showed up mid-afternoon and my wife asked if he knew what he was supposed to do. He said that he was supposed to install the shoe molding and fix the grout issues. After about an hour and a half the installer told my wife that he was done. She asked how everything went and he said “I got the shoe molding installed but I have to get going, and I don’t really do grout anyway”. You can see the quality of work that was done in the pics of two of the corners. (SEE PICS) I have a miter box so I know this is not what a good 45 degree, corner cut looks like.I called to complain and asked for the scheduling/service manager named Keith. I explained what happened and asked why a guy was sent out who had no grout experience. Keith apologized and said he didn’t know. I told him that neither me or my wife were going to take any more time off from work to get this repaired so he was going to have to figure something out. He apologized and said he would see what he could do. He arranged for a special repair the coming weekend. The installer that came out was obviously not happy to be there but got everything repaired and looking as it should with one exception, the caulk at the tub seam. It looks hastily done with uneven areas and not smooth and clean like it did before. A few hours after he left I was outside and saw something in our flower box right next to where the tech’s truck was parked. The guy had emptied whatever he had been putting his grout and scrap shavings into in the corner of our flower box! (SEE PIC).Shortly after the third visit I noticed that the 3/16” gap between the tiles and the kitchen door had never been caulked. I missed it with all the other issues. I just caulked it myself.
January 05 · Jason KulpThis is our second experience with Roy Lomas. I have to say that the installers are incredible and the show room sales person we worked with was nice. Shaw gave us a credit for 5 bedrooms in our new construction. Why? Our initial upgraded carpet looked like a 15 year old rug after only two years. (See picture!) The new rugs went in today. They look great! I do have to say that the loss of three stars is because of the guy who sits at a desk in the back of the showroom and barks at you and the staff. I felt like I was in a horrible used car dealer. His attitude was like he was doing us a favor. Horrible! Honestly, I will absolutely take my business to Lomax Carpetmart in Montgomeryville. The carpet we got from them for our finished basement still looks brand new after two years of my son's friends on it. There we felt valued, all staff is kind, and we've never had an issue with the rugs we purchased from them. Sorry Lomas... customer service first!!!
September 25 · Frank CerauliHad kitchen floor and living room carpet installed. Everyone from the initial visit to store to look at samples to completion of both projects was excellent. Workers arrived on time and jobs completed ahead of estimated time. Will definitely use again.
September 01 · paula hinkleExcellent sales services and install service. I would have them come out again and highly recommend Roy Lomas. Mike was my installer and he was fantastic!! Highly experienced, sociable and came prepared. It was a bit of a drive for us to the showroom but worth every minute!
