For those in the New York Capital District planning a floor replacement or a major home renovation, Schenectady Floor Covering offers a compelling blend of local heritage and comprehensive service. The true value in choosing this firm lies in their extensive scope, which moves them beyond being just a store and into the category of a dedicated home renovation partner.
The firm's dedication to its founding purpose as a small business is evident in the quality of its installation teams and the personalized attention provided by the sales staff. Their ability to expertly manage the installation of all floor types, from the finest wood to complex tile patterns, coupled with the valuable professional expertise in kitchen and bathroom remodeling, simplifies the often-stressful renovation journey. Instead of hiring three different contractors—a tile setter, a carpet layer, and a remodeler—homeowners can coordinate all critical work through a single, established company.
However, potential customers must also be aware that, like many contractor relationships, customer satisfaction can depend heavily on the specifics of the contract, especially when a home builder is involved. There is public feedback, particularly from a new-build homeowner, that indicates potential challenges in resolving warranty issues on defective flooring when the firm is acting as a subcontractor to a larger builder. Customers are advised to ensure they have a clear understanding of the full warranty terms and the direct line of responsibility for any repairs or replacements, especially on new construction, to protect their investment in their new floors. Nevertheless, for direct customer projects, the reputation for prompt, professional, and neat work stands strong, making Schenectady Floor Covering a highly recommended choice for those seeking a reliable, full-service flooring and remodeling specialist.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Buyer Beware - use a different flooring company. Stopped in there to basically plead that the company stand by their work and fix the defective flooring they put in my 1.5 year old residence. Notified them three months after moving into our new home of issues and was told "home needed to settle, but they stand behind their work". Fast forward to many emails to this company and the builder expressing that the floor issues have not only persisted but have gotten worse. They creak and squeak loudly, the planks (LVP) are separating from each other in spots, they crackle in areas like you are walking on bubble wrap. The person who they sent out to speak with me either was the supervisor/manager or maybe owner but regardless was condescending, rude and could care less, had no intention of standing by the work even though I brought him the warranty on the floors - which we are well under the warranty time. After a few spot fixes awhile back - although installers were nice guys that unfortunately did not work, they informed us the entire floor would need to be torn up in order to fix the problem and then reinstall the flooring, which they now won't do even though its under warranty. Was told that they work for Amedore and unless Amedore Builders tells them to repair or replace they will do nothing. So basically my floor warranty on my 1.5 year old floors means nothing unless Amedore tells them to fix it? This makes absolutely no sense. The flooring company pointed out several times that they work for Amedore not me even though it's my flooring we paid for in my house and we have a warranty. Interestingly although I was told that they take their orders from Amedore, Schenectady Flooring placed partial blame on Amedore's work. Even writing this review, I can't believe how badly they treat their customers. We have a warranty - they are under warranty. UPDATE - Called there and asked about my warranty and once again passing the buck asking are we sure it's not the subfloor? Neither company taking ownership and honoring the warranty is wrong on so many levels. People save up and invest in their homes and expect companies to stand by their work. This is a floor under two years old.
May 20 · G. E.We had a great experience with Schenectady Floor Covering. They replaced all of the carpet in our home and replaced the ceramic tiles around our fireplace. They were always prompt and professional, on time, and left no mess when they left. The sales staff at the store was very knowledgeable and offered a few suggestions that really helped us make the right choice in materials. I highly recommend them.
October 04 · Ryane HeckathornWe had floors put in by them in 2022, and no fault of their own, but a manufacturing issue with the supplier resulted in some gaps in our floors. Schenectady Flooring came back and did a great job repairing the issues, I think it was Bill and John who came out. I had concerns if it would be even possible at all to fix the problems, but they got it looking perfect again. They have great service and stand behind their work. Definitely use them.
February 09 · Anthony RaoGreat service. Tom has been very helpful in my carpet journey including responding quickly to my questions on email. I can't assess the price as we aren't at that point as of yet. Measuring soon. Local business with carpet in USA.
November 05 · Lois MillsWonderful experience picking out tile for our backsplash. Working with Adam and Lisa made the process very easy. Great pricing and customer service.
