The Home Depot Introduce
For homeowners, contractors, and DIY enthusiasts across Central Pennsylvania, tackling any project—from a major kitchen remodel to a simple weekend fix—requires a reliable source for materials, tools, and expert guidance. The Home Depot, located at 5101 Jonestown Rd in Harrisburg, PA, stands as one of the region's largest and most comprehensive home improvement stores. This massive retail center serves as a one-stop-shop for virtually every aspect of a property, ensuring local users have access to an unparalleled selection of products designed for both residential and commercial applications.
More than just a hardware store, the Jonestown Road location is a multifaceted home goods supplier, encompassing numerous specialized departments under one roof. It is a dedicated destination for everything from lumber and building materials to appliances, cabinet design, lighting, and sophisticated smart home technology. The goal is to facilitate both the largest construction projects and the smallest touch-ups with convenience and scale. The store is designed to support the "do-it-yourself" spirit that is common throughout Pennsylvania, offering extensive stock and rental options, but also providing professional installation and on-site services for those who need a helping hand to get from idea to done.
The vastness of The Home Depot’s inventory is a core part of its offering to the Harrisburg community, making it possible to source materials from virtually every home-related category in a single trip. Whether a local builder needs job-lot quantities of lumber or a resident is seeking a unique finish for a bathroom renovation, the store's layout and integrated services aim to streamline the shopping and procurement process. This scale of operation is particularly vital in a busy commercial corridor like Jonestown Road, where efficiency and access to specialty items are paramount for busy schedules.
The Home Depot store is strategically located at 5101 Jonestown Rd, placing it in a prime commercial area of Harrisburg, PA 17112. This location is situated in Lower Paxton Township and is easily accessible for residents across Dauphin County and beyond, including those commuting from Hershey, Linglestown, and surrounding communities. Its position near major highways and retail hubs makes it a convenient stop for both quick visits and extensive supply runs.

- Wheelchair Accessible Entrance: Ensuring smooth entry and exit for all patrons.
- Wheelchair Accessible Parking Lot: Dedicated parking spots are available close to the entrance for convenience.
- Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi access is provided within the store.
For immediate needs, the store is known for accommodating a "Quick visit" approach, though its expansive offerings mean dedicated time is often well spent exploring the diverse departments.
The Harrisburg Home Depot goes well beyond simply selling products, offering a robust suite of services and fulfillment options tailored to modern consumer and contractor demands:

This specific location is highlighted by its deep inventory and extensive service offerings, though customer feedback provides a balanced perspective on certain departmental functions:
- Massive, Broad Inventory: The store acts as a single source for thousands of products across virtually every category needed for residential and light commercial projects, including specialized items like lumber, electrical components, seasonal décor, and a full garden center.
- Dedicated Pro Support: The existence of a dedicated Pro Desk and associated programs like Pro Xtra offers specialized pricing, expert advice, and streamlined services essential for professional contractors in the Central PA region.
- Advanced Logistics: The capability for same-day and next-day delivery, combined with Curbside Pickup and in-store stock availability, is a critical convenience for time-sensitive projects.
- Installation and Design Services: Offering full Home Services, from initial consultation to final installation for major jobs like HVAC, kitchens, and floors, positioning the store as a comprehensive project partner.
- Opportunity for Improvement in Specialty Departments and Service: Customer reviews, however, indicate that while the product range is vast, there are reported inconsistencies in the training, follow-through, and accountability of some specialized departments, particularly those handling custom orders like the Windows & Doors section. Similarly, some feedback suggests customer service at non-specialty areas, such as self-checkout, can be inconsistent, occasionally leading to frustrating delays for general shoppers.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Windows & Doors Department –I’ve had one of the most frustrating experiences with the Windows & Doors department at this Home Depot.I needed a custom deck door, and the process should have been straightforward: Home Depot came out to measure, but then lost the measurements. They came out again to measure, only to lose them again. When I learned they were running a 15% off sale, I tried to place the order in-store while the discount was still active. Unfortunately, the employees on duty didn’t know how to retrieve the order or process it correctly. I spent over 45 minutes in the store patiently waiting, only to leave without an order. On the final day of the sale, I returned again and encountered the exact same issue- employees were simply not trained to handle the order. The associate apologized and promised that if I came back the next day, the manager would honor the 15% discount. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but the same problem repeated itself. Eventually, the manager got involved, sent someone out to measure yet again, and promised to “check with his manager” about honoring the 15% discount. I never heard back.I followed up with another manager later via a phone call to the store, who simply told me that too much time had passed and they “probably” couldn’t honor the discount but would check back with me shortly . Since then, there’s been no follow-up, no call back, and no accountability. Here’s the bottom line:• I, as the customer, did everything right.• Home Depot repeatedly lost measurements, wasted my time, and failed to train their staff.• Promises of honoring the sale and following up were never kept. This department has shown a serious lack of training, integrity, and follow-through. If you need windows or doors, I highly recommend going to Lowe’s or another Home Depot location to avoid the unnecessary headaches. This store’s Windows & Doors department is, unfortunately, not a reliable business partner.
September 08 · Landin CominsCustomer service at the self check out is horrible. Always a line and one person only working and they are not helpful at all. Act like it’s an inconvenience for me to be in store buying product. The jonestown rd Home Depot is not good just go over to Derry st much better service.
October 08 · greg burstonUpdate 10/2/25 - They never update their stock of items. Came here for wire from the rack and the machine is broken, making everything on the whole thing effectively out of stock indefinitely. Employee said it's been broken as long as she's been here and yet everything in it shows in stock online. I really hate this store. They need to clean house urgently.---------This location is horrible. They don't answer the phones. It rang for 15 minutes at 2 PM and nobody ever helped me. Also none of their tech works. The stock quantities listed online are usually wrong and if you place an online order for curbside pickup no one ever brings it out here. Internet orders for inside pickup sometimes go through, but they are never accurate to what you actually ordered. Basically imagine a store from the 1800s, no phones and no internet, but also without the old timey manners and charm either. I suggest going to the Derry St or Mechanicsburg stores instead if you want a store that actually functions.
October 02 · Patrick ChristensenWell stocked, kind workers. The lady working the paint counter was pleasant and helpful. Bathrooms were clean.
September 30 · Landon HoffmanNever, ever, ever, ever buy anything from Home Depot and use their installation service. It was an awful and wild experience. Take note that their response to similar reviews is along the lines of "we appreciate your feedback" but nothing more to remedy the situation. They do not care. Run. Run quickly, fast, and far away from Home Depot.
