Carpet Depot Introduce
For Long Island homeowners and businesses embarking on a renovation or simply seeking to refresh their space, flooring is one of the most critical elements. Carpet Depot in Oceanside, NY, stands as a well-established local destination for comprehensive flooring solutions. Beginning as a single store in 1991, this family-owned operation has grown into New York's largest local carpet chain, bringing decades of experience and buying power directly to the Nassau County community.
While the name may suggest a focus only on carpet, Carpet Depot is truly a full-service flooring store and contractor. They offer a vast selection of materials far beyond traditional wall-to-wall carpeting, including the latest in hardwood, luxury vinyl, laminate, and area rugs. Their mission is to simplify the flooring process for local New York users, offering a combination of extensive product choice, competitive pricing, and professional, in-house installation services that aim for efficiency and a high-quality finish.
The experience at Carpet Depot is often highly personalized, with dedicated sales associates like Lisette being repeatedly praised by customers for their "eye for color" and ability to "take the pain out of the process" by guiding clients through selections while working strictly within their budget. For Long Islanders seeking to update their home quickly and efficiently, this store provides a one-stop-shop solution for all flooring needs.

Carpet Depot’s position as a long-standing Long Island business highlights several key features that appeal to local New York users looking for reliable home improvement providers.
- Local Chain Strength and Value: As New York’s largest family-owned carpet chain since 1991, they offer the competitive pricing and vast selection typically associated with larger stores, while maintaining a local presence. This means greater value for customers across Long Island.
- In-House Design Expertise: Staff members like Lisette are highlighted for being "wonderful" and possessing an "eye for color," providing crucial design advice that helps clients select the perfect flooring to match their home decor and lifestyle, thereby "taking the pain out of the process."
- Comprehensive Product Range: They are a true flooring depot, offering not just carpet, but also hard surfaces—including hardwood, engineered hardwood, long-lasting laminates, and luxury vinyl—making them a versatile choice for any room in the house.
- Efficiency and Speed: The store has a reputation for being efficient, with a streamlined process that can move quickly from remnant selection and measurement to full installation, a major benefit for New Yorkers on a tight schedule.
- Local and Personalized Service: The focus remains on personalized attention, where customers feel guided, not left alone, to browse. This hands-on, consultative approach is highly valued in the local community.
It is important to note that while many customers report highly positive, seamless experiences with specific salespeople and excellent installation, some historical reviews indicate inconsistency in customer service and installation quality across different locations and projects. Prospective clients should leverage the initial consultation to confirm specific warranties and installation details before proceeding.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This is the second time I've worked with Lisette and she is wonderful. She has an eye for color and is willing to work within your price range. She's very good at what she does and takes the pain out of the process. Very efficient! I was there on Wednesday, picked out a remnant, the guy came on Thursday to measure and carpet is scheduled to be installed Saturday! Couldn't ask for more.
April 24 · Donna DeSantisAVOID AT ALL COST. Dealt with the Levittown and Oceanside location and this was a complete mess. Customer service and management was a joke. Their best solution to all of our problems was to cancel the order. Shows the lack of quality and standards this company has.
September 26 · Paul BI have had several bad experiences with carpet companies over the years.I decided to shop locally and I am very glad I did. From the start Dan did the measurements and put me at ease. The installation was done professionally. I will be using Carpet Depot going forward!
June 13 · Robert CalabreseCarpet Depot is the worst carpet store I have ever had the misfortune to shop in.I went in on Saturday before Thanksgiving. They sold me a 9x12 rug and swore to me it would be available to pick up by Tuesday before Thanksgiving. When Tuesday came, they called me to tell me the rug they sold me doesn't come in 9x12. I said I would take it in 8x10. I never heard back from them until I called this morning, on my to be told they don't have it in 8x10 either. They suggested I stop cooking Thanksgiving dinner and drop everything to drive 45 minutes to their Levittown store, to see if there's something else I might like, but they couldn't promise it would be available today. When I asked the owner to take pictures of what they have and send them to me so I spang have to stone to Levittown, he refused. So, Carpet Depot sold me something that doesn't exist, and didn't let me know until the day before Thanksgiving! Because of their laziness in selling me a rug they didn't exist, and failing to check and make sure they had it before selling it to me, I will have bare floors for my Thanksgiving guests.AND, this is NOT the first time that stops gave me false information about something I wanted to purchase.Stay away from Carpet Depot. They overcharge their customers, for products they don't even have to sell, and then refuse to let you know until it's too late. THEY ARE THE WORST!!
November 27 · Ruth Bernstein BanschickIf you need carpet, look for Lissette at Carpet Depot’s Oceanside store on Long Beach Road. She was great! We were looking for carpet for two bedrooms and Lissette found just what we needed (she even suggested a carpet with a really good warranty because we wanted such a light color.). Added plus, there’s ample parking in the shopping center lot just around the corner. Go to Lissette, you’ll be happy you did.
