Carpet Factory Outlet Introduce
In New York City, a successful home renovation or commercial upgrade depends heavily on specialized contractors who handle specific trades with precision. While not a traditional "general contractor" that manages an entire construction project, Carpet Factory Outlet plays a foundational and critical role as a highly specialized flooring contractor, serving the Upper East Side and the wider five boroughs since 1966. For general contractors, interior designers, and homeowners coordinating major apartment renovations, the quality of the flooring specialist is paramount—and this business is dedicated to that essential piece of the puzzle.
Carpet Factory Outlet is essentially a full-service flooring destination. They offer a unique combination of retail expertise (Carpet store, Linoleum store) and professional installation capability (Carpet installer, Flooring contractor), allowing them to manage the entire process from selection to final placement. The showroom on First Avenue serves as a crucial resource for New Yorkers, offering access to materials and expert consultation that can be challenging to find elsewhere. Many customers arrive, as one satisfied client did during a major apartment renovation, "without really any idea what we wanted," and find the in-store team "extremely helpful" in guiding their selection to match the desired aesthetic and practical needs of a busy NYC apartment.
Operating for over 50 years, the business has established deep roots in the Manhattan community. They understand the logistical demands of New York renovations—such as working with strict building rules, coordinating with other contractors, and meeting tight schedules. This local knowledge is invaluable for residents undertaking the high-stress, high-cost endeavor of remodeling in the city. Their commitment extends to offering a service guarantee and providing quick, efficient showroom visits to accommodate the fast-paced schedules of local clients.
Carpet Factory Outlet is centrally located in one of Manhattan's most dynamic neighborhoods, offering ease of access for local residents, designers, and contractors working throughout the city.
The store's address is:1492 1st Ave, New York, NY 10075, USA.
Situated on the Upper East Side, the location is conveniently positioned near major transit routes. For those driving, paid street parking is available in the vicinity. Crucially for all patrons, the premises feature a wheelchair-accessible entrance, demonstrating a commitment to serving all members of the community. The ability to make a "Quick visit" for planning purposes makes this a highly practical stop for busy Manhattanites coordinating renovation details.

Choosing Carpet Factory Outlet for your flooring needs in New York is an investment in specialized local experience. For residents undertaking apartment renovations or designers coordinating multi-trade projects, selecting a long-standing, focused contractor for the floor coverings can dramatically reduce the risk of delays and quality issues. The one-stop-shop model—from browsing an extensive range of wool, nylon, and linoleum products to receiving professional, guaranteed installation—simplifies what is often a very complex part of a major overhaul.
However, potential customers should be aware that, as with many specialty contractors, attention to detail regarding the total project cost is critical. While some customers praise the affordability and "wonderful" finished product, other feedback explicitly mentions the necessity of confirming all potential "additional fees," such as binding, delivery, and padding, upfront. It is a highly competitive market, and a transparent discussion about the full scope of work and its associated costs is the best path to a smooth, satisfactory experience. The firm is worth choosing for its deep inventory, its decades of installation knowledge within finicky NYC buildings, and its ability to deliver a high-quality finished floor—provided that clear communication on all pricing components is established from the initial consultation. The positive feedback highlights their ability to deliver a wonderful final product while working with a tight contractor schedule, which is a rare and valuable asset in the demanding New York construction environment.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I use them to choose, purchase and install carpet in our apartment during our major renovation. In the store they were extremely helpful, tried to match us with the carpet we were looking for, even though my wife and I didn’t really have any idea what we wanted before walking in.They worked with our schedule and the contractor’s schedule. They were affordable and the finished product was wonderful.I highly recommend them.
August 11 · Ben ShermanThe most unprofessional company. Rude, answer the phone "who's this?", and don't think the rugs are even that discounted. They hide all the additional fees. Your rug purchase is only for the remnant rug itself. They tell you about the cost for binding (hundreds more dollars), $150 delivery (doesn't include laying the rug down - that's extra!), plus a $150 rug pad AFTER you've purchased the rug. Also arbitrarily changed the binding pricing for my rug vs. the one my sister got.
September 19 · Eden LipkeHad a great experience. I bought a huge 12 ft x 20 ft bolt of pure wool loop carpet ,had it cut , hemmed and delivered. Terrific all around. Also bought some very reasonable area rugs, already with finished edges. Robert can be gruff, but is a total proAnd everything turned out just like he promised.
September 09 · LDJI have been using Carpet Factory Outlet for 18 years. I redo my wall to wall and my area rugs every few years. I have also done two office spaces with them. I cannot say enough good things! Great opportunity to save on high quality pieces, a great thing to do for the environment, and excellent professional service every time.
June 08 · Marissa PriesterBuying carpet with them was an unpleasant and unprofessional experience. I bought five carpets for almost $2000 including $300 to have the carpets cut to fit in my rooms. The carpets took too much time to be ready. The carpet delivery took too much time. But, the most dissatisfying part of the entire purchasing process was the fact that I was treated like dirt. I was harassed by someone from the store when I shared my issues by phone. The worker who took my original order, was not appropriately masked. And if you look at Yelp you will see that they prefer man-explaining over customer service.I would give them a zero.
