The Floor Store Introduce
For decades, New York residents and business owners—from the boroughs to the far reaches of Long Island—have relied on specialty stores for the high-quality materials and expert services needed to upgrade their spaces. Choosing a flooring partner in New York should be about striking a balance between material quality, installation expertise, and honest service. The Floor Store embodies this balance. While no business is immune to occasional logistical challenges—as evidenced by the review noting a material measurement error—the long-established nature of the business and the overwhelming positive feedback regarding customer service and finished quality remain the dominant narrative.
What is truly worth choosing is the combination of having a large, comprehensive inventory—eliminating endless trips to multiple locations—with the personal, detailed service of a small, local business. Customers are not merely transactional; they are guided by experienced professionals like Fred, ensuring the final result is exactly what they envisioned, whether it involves complex tile work or an expedited vinyl and carpet install. For Long Island and NYC clients, The Floor Store provides reliable, high-quality, and knowledgeable support for one of the most significant elements of any home or commercial space: the floor itself.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We have made many purchases from this long established business over the years. The sales staff is very helpful and they have a large selection in the showroom. Their carpet installations have been good but the flooring we recently purchased was not well aligned and with chipped panels on some of the stairs exposing the concrete underneath. Their measurement for ordering flooring was insufficient to cover requiring a second order that took almost 3 additional weeks to install. Although it was their error they charged us for the additional flooring as well as freight charges a second time. Unfortunate for us as a customer with little choice but to pay for their error.
October 11 · Robert RothschildThe Floor Store completely transformed our basement area and basement stairs. The products were very high quality and the vinyl flooring and carpeting install crews showed up exactly when they said they would and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. Fred, the owner, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful during our initial consultation and throughout the entire process. Highly recommend them and will use them again for future flooring needs.
June 13 · Nicole O'NeillHaving had a good experience with a business is a good reason to return to that business. We purchased laminate flooring a few years ago from the Floor Store and were very happy with the installation. So, we went back to the Floor Store for stairway carpeting knowing that not only the selection of carpets would be expansive but that the installers would do a professional job. So glad we did because our stairs look fabulous. The owner and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend them.
June 11 · cdmcfaulI don’t like doing this, but I think people should be aware before shopping there. I purchased a carpet for my bedroom. Fred assured us that was good quality and would not show footprints and hold up very well. Not true! The carpet is one year old and it looks awful. I had a claim with the manufacture a year ago. They declined then. The floor store is showing no responsibility. Very poor customer service . No response from them.
July 03 · Shelley ForchheimerGreat store. Staff was excellent, took the time to explain flooring and choose what was best for my use and budget. Installation was done by a truly professional staff that did an excellent job. I was going to go to home depot, but glade I stopped in and made the right choice. Besides the quality of the product being better for a better price. The installation which is just as important was correctly done. Highly recommend this store.
