Cooper Lace Introduce
For Massachusetts homeowners, designers, and preservationists seeking the perfect blend of privacy, light diffusion, and timeless elegance for their windows, Cooper Lace in Amherst offers a uniquely specialized solution. More than just a local retailer, this dedicated Window treatment store is renowned across the Commonwealth and North America for its focus on beautiful, high-quality lace curtains, particularly those woven in the traditional Scottish style. This small business caters to both modern sensibilities and historic preservation needs, providing pieces that serve as functional art within any home, from a Colonial-era gem in the Boston suburbs to a contemporary residence in the Berkshires.
Cooper Lace prides itself on offering curtains that are simultaneously "modern and chic with an antique feel," as one delighted Massachusetts customer noted about the "galaxy lace curtain." This dual aesthetic is a hallmark of their curated collection. Their lace curtains are expertly designed to afford crucial privacy while still allowing natural light to filter beautifully into a room, a balance often difficult to achieve with standard window coverings. The company’s focus on 100% cotton, Scottish-woven products—often utilizing the superior Madras weave—underscores its commitment to quality textiles that perform as exceptionally as they look.
What truly sets Cooper Lace apart and makes it an indispensable resource for local users is the profound expertise and customer-centric approach of its representatives. One customer's rave review highlights this perfectly: "I received amazing advice from the Cooper Lace representative on the phone. There aren’t enough superlatives to express how much I love their curtains. And they arrive so quickly!" This demonstrates a dedication to not just selling a product, but providing personalized consultation to ensure local buyers make the right choice for their specific window sizes, light requirements, and interior design vision.
Furthermore, the Massachusetts-based company has become the leading resource for authentic, historically inspired window treatments. Their collections include designs categorized by architectural and design eras such as Victorian, Arts & Crafts (Mission/Craftsman), and Art Deco. The CEO of Cooper Lace is noted as a well-known authority on historic interior design, having consulted for museums and film sets, which means local customers receive guidance rooted in deep, authoritative knowledge. This level of specialization is incredibly valuable for those undertaking restoration projects on the region's many historic homes. The company’s appeal is so strong that one customer simply stated: "This is not my first, nor my last, order to Cooper Lace," showing exceptional loyalty built on consistent quality and service.
Cooper Lace is conveniently located in the heart of Western Massachusetts, making it a accessible destination for customers across the state, particularly those in the Pioneer Valley and beyond who prefer to shop local. While much of their business is conducted nationally via online orders, their physical location serves as the base for their operations and is a point of contact for local pickup or consultation.

As a business largely focused on online consultation, ordering, and delivery, detailed, consistent walk-in retail hours are less relevant than their consistent availability for phone and email consultation. This model provides maximum flexibility for busy Massachusetts homeowners. They are noted for offering a "personalized service" and working "through the night and on weekends" to monitor shipments, demonstrating an extreme commitment to customer service outside of conventional office hours.
Their service model is designed for convenience, offering the following:
- Online Estimates: Customers can initiate the process and receive quotes without needing to leave their home, ideal for busy Massachusetts life.
- Delivery: Offering delivery ensures that large or delicate curtain orders arrive safely at the customer's doorstep, regardless of their location in the state.
Cooper Lace provides specialized services that drastically improve the customer experience and confidence when selecting lace curtains—a product that requires a keen eye for light, pattern, and privacy.
- "Lace-on-Loan" Full-Sized Samples: This is arguably the most valuable service offered. Instead of small clippings, the company sends large, full-sized panels to allow customers to preview exactly how the patterns look when hung, how they filter light, and how they provide privacy in their actual space.
- Expert Phone Consultation: Representatives offer "amazing advice" on the phone, assisting with everything from pattern selection (Victorian, Arts & Crafts, Art Deco) to measuring and hanging guidelines.
- Rush Service for Film, Television, and Theatre: While often supplying residential homes, their ability to provide rush service for professional set decorators highlights a capacity for fast, reliable, and high-quality fulfillment, even under tight deadlines.
- Custom Shortening: They offer professional custom shortening services for a nominal fee per panel, ensuring a perfect, custom fit for windows of varying heights without the need for the customer to find a local seamstress.
For Massachusetts residents making an investment in their home’s decor, these highlights provide compelling reasons to choose this Amherst Small business:
- Historically Accurate Designs: The product line features unique, authorized designs by renowned artisans like William Morris, C. F. A. Voysey, and Dard Hunter, making them the premier choice for historically inspired interiors.
- Superior Material Quality: All products are high-quality, 100% cotton, Scottish-woven materials (often Madras weave), known for offering the greatest amount of privacy while maximizing light and visibility.
- The Largest Historic Lace Curtain Company in North America: As a leading player in the market, they offer reliable inventory, competitive pricing, and industry-leading expertise that surpasses smaller or general retailers.
- Privacy Without Darkness: The fundamental feature of their curtains is their ability to provide privacy in large windows during the day while maintaining a bright, open feeling—a highly desirable trait for street-facing windows in densely populated Massachusetts towns.
- Fast Shipping: Despite the specialized nature of the product, customers consistently report that their orders "arrive so quickly," indicating efficient fulfillment.

Cooper Lace Reviews
Wow! I cannot believe how gorgeous the galaxy lace curtain is. It is absolutely perfect for my large living room window. It’s modern and chic with an antique feel. It affords privacy as well as let’s in light during the day.I received amazing advice from the Cooper Lace representative on the phone. There aren’t enough superlatives to express how much I love their curtains. And they arrive so quickly! This is not my first, nor my last, order to Cooper Lace.
November 04 · marcie cooperSo incredibly impressed by this company. I contacted them for lace samples and could not believe they sent such large panels. Full size samples allow you to preview what the patterns would really look like hanging and how well they filter light. Every other website sends you a small patch of leftover lace clippings for you to compare. It is nearly impossible to tell the efficacy and beauty of lace curtains from a 4x4 patch. Can't wait to place my order...once I decide on my pattern.
July 31 · Michelle WickmanI purchased these curtains refinishing an old home and couldn't be happier! They are lovely blowing in the wind and accentuate parts of my house I was hoping to show off. I ordered samples first which worked out nicely and they are free. Would purchase here again.
May 08 · Leslie WilsonI got these curtains for my mom as a present and she's actually been a lot nicer to me ever since! lol! she loves them- way more pretty than the pictures even show and the guy who sells them was pretty helpful for me pickin them out. Thanks!
